Pix4D Updates 1.85–1.86: orthomosaic editor in Matic and new Survey features
Published on  Updated on

Our Swiss partner Pix4D — a leading developer of specialized software in the fields of photogrammetry and mapping, has updated its Matic and Survey software products. The latest versions, 1.85 and 1.86, introduce an Orthomosaic Editor in Pix4Dmatic and deliver a range of workflow and performance improvements across both solutions.

Pix4Dmatic Update

The key update to Pix4Dmatic, which specialises in fast and highly accurate processing of large numbers of images (tens of thousands) obtained from drones or ground surveys, is the addition of the Orthomosaic Editor function. Previously, this tool was only available in Mapper, but now it is officially integrated into Matic with more flexible and advanced functionality.

The update allows you to:

- edit orthomosaics based on patches;

- enable/disable patch contours.

Creating a patch. You can select as many areas as necessary for editing the orthophoto plan

After creating the patch, you can choose between two types of projection: planar or orthographic. If several images are selected, they will be combined

Other updates in Pix4Dmatic versions 1.85–1.86 include:

- orthomosaic restriction by area of interest. Orthomosaic creation now takes into account the area of interest, allowing you to restrict the orthomosaic area without regenerating the digital terrain model (DSM);

- improved 3D mesh generation for merged projects for better processing of different point cloud densities;

- improved performance with DJI RTK and GPS accuracies;

- added support for custom ASPRS classes. From now on, the ID of custom ASPRS user classes can be specified manually.

Pix4Dsurvey update

The Pix4Dsurvey solution, which is integrated with Pix4Dmatic and allows you to work directly with point clouds and immediately export results to popular engineering formats without additional conversions, has also received important updates in versions 1.85–1.86, including:

- the option to import a base surface from a LandXML file for volume calculation;

- an ‘Ortho Mode’ button on the section viewing toolbar to easily switch vectorisation at a 90-degree angle;

- improved performance of contour line rendering in 3D view.

Matic and Survey also now support two new geoid models: Norway/Spitsbergen: Svalbard_EGG2015_2024 and Netherlands/Bonaire: BONGEO2004

Updates 1.85–1.86 are now available for Windows and macOS.
