Why Farms Are Switching to Automated Steering
- XAG APC2 replaces manual tractor steering with centimeter-level GPS guidance — reducing overlap, skipped rows, and operator fatigue across every field pass.
- Choose your configuration based on your operation: the APC2 Standard suits general tractor and harvester work, the APC2 Flex adds flexible mounting for machines with non-standard steering columns, and the Transplanter Kit is purpose-built for precision row planting.
- Already running XAG drones? Every APC2 console syncs field maps directly with XAG P150 Max and P100 Pro — your tractor and drone work from the same plan, on the same field, at the same time. Speak to our team to build your integrated setup.

FAQ
1
What's the difference between the APC2 and APC2 Flex?
Both deliver the same RTK precision and XAG ecosystem integration, but differ in how they mount to your machine:
- APC2: Standard mounting configuration — fits the majority of tractors and harvesters with a conventional steering column. Single-cable connection between mainframe and steering wheel.
- APC2 Flex: Flexible mounting bracket design — suited for machines where the steering column geometry doesn't fit standard APC2 attachment. Ideal for operators running varied or non-standard equipment.
- Which to choose: If you're unsure whether your tractor fits the standard APC2, share the make and model with our team and we'll confirm compatibility before you order.
2
What machinery is compatible with the XAG APC2?
The APC2 is designed as a universal automated steering solution:
- Tractors of most makes and sizes with a conventional steering column.
- Harvesters and combine headers where straight-line precision reduces losses.
- Transplanters — using the dedicated APC2 Transplanter Kit for row-accurate seedling placement.
- Compatibility check: If you're working with specialized or older equipment, contact our team with the machine specifications — we'll confirm fit before purchase.
3
How accurate is the APC2, and what does ±2.5 cm mean in practice?
The APC2 uses RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) GPS navigation — a correction-based positioning system that achieves far higher accuracy than standard GPS:
- ±2.5 cm pass-to-pass accuracy means each tractor pass stays within 2.5 cm of the planned line — virtually eliminating row overlap and missed strips.
- IMU terrain compensation uses inertial sensors to detect and correct for ground slope in real time, so accuracy holds even on uneven or hillside fields.
- Why it matters: On a standard field, reducing overlap by even 5% saves measurable amounts of seed, fertilizer, and fuel per season.
4
Does the APC2 work independently, or does it require an XAG drone?
The APC2 operates fully independently as a standalone automated steering system:
- No drone required — the APC2 works on its own with the XAG Autopilot app for route planning and machine control.
- Drone integration is additive — if you also operate XAG P150 Max or P100 Pro drones, field maps sync between the tractor and drone, letting both work the same field from the same plan.
- WCP1 Wireless Control Panel is available as an accessory for hands-free console control when your phone is in use or out of reach.
5
How is the APC2 installed, and do I need a technician?
Installation is designed to be straightforward:
- Single-cable connection between the integrated mainframe and the automated steering wheel — no complex wiring harness.
- Smartphone setup via the XAG Autopilot app handles calibration and field configuration.
- Over-the-air updates add new navigation modes and functionality without requiring service visits.
- Our team provides onboarding support — including setup guidance and initial field planning assistance to get you running accurately from day one.
6
What is the XAG WCP1 Wireless Control Panel and do I need it?
The WCP1 is an optional handheld controller that works alongside the APC2:
- Alternative to smartphone control — gives you physical buttons to start, pause, and adjust the autopilot without unlocking your phone or navigating the app.
- Useful in cab conditions — when your phone is mounted awkwardly, wet, or in use for other tasks, the WCP1 gives you immediate one-hand control of the steering system.
- Not required for operation — the APC2 functions fully via the XAG Autopilot app. The WCP1 is a convenience upgrade, not a necessity.
- Who needs it: Operators running long daily shifts, or anyone who prefers tactile hardware controls over a touchscreen in a moving cab environment.
