Ukraine’s participation in the Commercial UAV Expo 2024 in Las Vegas became a major international showcase of the country’s capabilities in robotics, unmanned systems, and advanced engineering.
Talented engineers, a strong component base, and rapidly expanding manufacturing capabilities attracted significant attention from the global technology community. Ukraine demonstrated its potential as a reliable partner in the development, production, and implementation of unmanned solutions.
In just two and a half years, the country achieved a remarkable manufacturing breakthrough, scaling drone production to more than 300,000 new robotic devices per month.
Ukraine at the Commercial UAV Expo 2024
For the first time in the exhibition’s 10-year history, Ukraine was represented by a dedicated national pavilion bringing together companies that had already demonstrated their expertise in international markets.

Day One: Showcasing Ukraine’s Technology Ecosystem
Over three days, the Commercial UAV Expo — one of the largest North American events dedicated to the commercial use of drones — hosted a series of expert discussions, technology presentations, and networking events.
The first day focused on Ukraine’s modern robotics ecosystem and the country’s ability to rapidly scale manufacturing. Particular attention was paid to the role of unmanned technologies in Ukraine’s reconstruction and their potential applications across agriculture, infrastructure, industry, energy, security, and other sectors.
Day Two: International Recognition for Ukrainian Innovations
The second day became an important milestone for the Ukrainian delegation as several engineering solutions received recognition from international exhibitors, journalists, and technology experts.
During the media pitch session, two teams from the Ukrainian Pavilion — BavovnaAI and FreeUA — were selected as finalists and invited to present their projects to a panel of editors and reporters searching for the exhibition’s most innovative solutions.
BavovnaAI ultimately won the competition, outperforming 15 other participating companies and drawing additional international attention to Ukrainian engineering expertise.
Drones and Agriculture in the United States
Ukraine’s extensive experience in using drones for agricultural operations across Europe provided the foundation for the roundtable discussion “From Detection to Action: Drones and Agriculture in the United States.”
The session was moderated by Valerii Iakovenko, Co-founder and Managing Partner of DroneUA and Futurology, together with Ashley Hanson, Head of Unmanned Aircraft Systems at John Deere.
The roundtable brought together approximately 60 participants and focused on several key areas:
- The development of regulations for agricultural drones.
- Modern business models in the agricultural UAV sector.
- The efficiency of unmanned technologies in farming.
- Resource and workforce management.
- Recruitment and training of qualified specialists.
- Future opportunities for the agricultural drone industry.
The discussion enabled participants to exchange practical experience and develop a shared vision of how agricultural UAV technologies could evolve in the United States over the coming years.
Fleet of Millions: Building the Future of Robotics
The exhibition concluded with the presentation of the Fleet of Millions platform — a global initiative created by Ukrainian technology companies to unite manufacturers, developers, investors, government institutions, and international partners within one of the world's fastest-growing robotics ecosystems.
The initiative provides innovators with opportunities to collaborate on the development of unmanned systems, advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and high-tech manufacturing. It also promotes international partnerships by connecting hardware manufacturers, software developers, and component suppliers with organizations seeking scalable robotic solutions.
Government Support for Innovation
The expert discussions opened with a video address from Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine, who emphasized the government's commitment to creating favorable conditions for technological innovation and long-term industry growth.
"The government's role is to establish clear guidelines and create an environment where innovations can thrive rather than be constrained by rigid regulations. Ukraine has already developed a long-term strategy for innovation spanning the next 10 to 30 years. Our talented engineers, practical experience, and favorable legal and business environment provide a strong foundation for international cooperation and investment."

Ukraine's diplomatic institutions also play a significant role in strengthening international cooperation and helping Ukrainian companies establish partnerships with global technology leaders.

The Future of the Drone Industry
Today, unmanned technologies are widely deployed across Ukraine in agriculture, infrastructure, industry, logistics, and security. Their rapid adoption has become both an important achievement and a catalyst for continued technological development.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that one of the industry's key priorities is maintaining a balance between public safety and the continued expansion of commercial drone applications.
The discussions throughout the exhibition demonstrated that close cooperation between government institutions, technology companies, manufacturers, educational organizations, and international partners is essential for building a sustainable global robotics ecosystem.
Looking Ahead
The Ukrainian Pavilion successfully demonstrated the country's ability to develop, manufacture, and scale advanced unmanned solutions for global markets. Ukrainian engineering expertise is already being applied in numerous countries, strengthening the country's reputation as a trusted technology partner.
The phrase "Made in Ukraine. Designed in Ukraine." has become a symbol of innovation, resilience, and engineering excellence.
Following the success of this year's exhibition, the Ukrainian Pavilion is expected to become a permanent feature of future Commercial UAV Expo events, welcoming more Ukrainian companies, expanding international partnerships, and continuing to showcase cutting-edge technologies developed in Ukraine.
