What's the difference between a standard controller and a screen remote station?

Standard controllers handle robot movement and commands — the operator controls the robot but has no live visual feedback from the robot's perspective unless using a separate tablet or laptop. Screen remote stations include a built-in display with real-time dual-camera video feed from the robot, giving the operator full situational awareness without any additional equipment:

  • Standard controllers (R3, Go2-Remote, Two-handed): compact, portable, suited for line-of-sight operation or environments where visual feedback comes from another source
  • Screen remote stations: self-contained professional units — the operator sees live footage while controlling the robot, essential for beyond-line-of-sight operations, security patrols, remote inspections, and hazardous environments

What are the differences between the three screen remote station variants?

All three include a built-in screen with dual-camera live feed. The difference is in payload camera control:

  • Dual Camera: live dual-camera feed from the robot's built-in cameras — no external camera control
  • Dual Camera + 3 in 1: adds control for a 3-in-1 payload camera system — allows the operator to manage camera orientation and switching from the remote

Dual Camera + Mini PTZ: adds control for a miniature PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera — full directional and zoom control of the payload camera from the remote station, highest level of situational awareness for professional security and inspection operations.

Does the R3 Controller work with all Unitree robots?

The R3 is compatible with Go2, Go2-W, B2, G1, and H1. It does not cover H2 — the H2 has its own dedicated controller. If you operate multiple Unitree platforms and want a single universal remote, the R3 is the most practical choice currently available.

Do I need a separate controller if my Go2 comes with one?

Go2 Pro and Go2 Air can be ordered with or without a controller. If you already have a controller from your robot purchase, you may not need an additional one for standard use.

However, a second controller is useful for training scenarios where two operators share a robot, and a screen remote station is the right upgrade if your operation requires live visual feedback that your current controller doesn't provide.

Can I use a Go2 controller to operate a G1 or B2?

No — platform-specific controllers (Go2-Remote, G1 Two-handed, H2 Remote) are designed for their respective robots only. The R3 Controller is the exception — it is the only controller in this collection compatible across multiple Unitree platforms (Go2, Go2-W, B2, G1, H1). For multi-robot operations, the R3 is the most practical single-controller solution.
