Why Farms Are Switching to Smart Fertigation
- XAG fertigation equipment replaces manual valve operation and guesswork dosing with remotely controlled, GPS-synchronized water and nutrient delivery — reducing input waste and labor.
- Choose your setup based on field complexity: smart electric valves (FBV2, FBV3, FBV5) handle single or multi-zone control, while injectors (FPI and FPDI) add liquid fertilizer dosing directly into the irrigation line with pump-driven or pressurized precision.
- Every XAG fertigation component is designed to work within the XAG ecosystem — connecting via the FS2 Local Server, FR2 Wireless Relay, or FDS Docking Station so your field network stays online even in remote locations.

FAQ
What's the difference between FBV2, FBV3, and FBV5 valve series?
Each series is built for a different pipe configuration and installation angle:
- FBV2: Standard straight-through valve body — the most common choice for inline pipe runs.
- FBV3: Available in T-port and L-port variants — designed for branching lines or angled pipe layouts.
- FBV5: L-port valve for corner installations where the pipe changes direction.
- Important: The valve body and controller are separate products. Each body pairs with either an "i" (internal antenna) or "e" (external antenna) controller purchased separately.
What do the "i" and "e" suffixes mean in controller names?
The suffix tells you the antenna type built into the valve controller:
- "i" — Internal Antenna: More compact design, suited for sheltered, covered, or enclosed installations.
- "e" — External Antenna: Extends wireless range significantly — recommended for open fields, long distances between valve zones, or areas with signal interference.
- Why It Matters: Choosing the wrong antenna type can result in unreliable valve control, especially on large or complex fields.
What's the difference between the FPI and FPDI injectors?
Both inject liquid fertilizer directly into the irrigation line, but they work differently:
- FPI (Pressurized Injector): Uses existing water line pressure to drive dosing — simpler setup, fewer moving parts, ideal for systems with stable and adequate water pressure.
- FPDI (Pump-Driven Injector): Has its own built-in pump for consistent dosing regardless of line pressure fluctuations — better for larger fields, variable-pressure water sources, or high-precision programs.
- Why It Matters: The FPDI gives more controlled fertigation rates, but the FPI is sufficient for most standard drip or sprinkler setups with reliable pressure.
Can this equipment work without a drone — as a standalone irrigation system?
Yes — XAG fertigation hardware operates fully independently of drones:
- Smart valves can be scheduled and controlled via the FS2 Local Server or mobile app without any drone connected.
- Injectors dose fertilizer on a set program tied to your irrigation schedule.
- FR2 Wireless Relay extends control signals across the field without requiring drone flights.
- Why It Matters: You get the full benefit of automated precision fertigation even if you haven't yet added XAG drones or rovers to your operation.
What connector accessories do I need, and which size should I choose?
The connector range covers every common pipe connection type — the right choice depends on your existing irrigation infrastructure:
- Reducer Connectors: Join pipes of different diameters — available in 75mm and 90mm.
- Hose Connectors: For flexible hose connections — available in 75mm, 90mm, and 110mm.
- Coupling Connectors: Standard pipe-to-pipe joins — available in 75mm and 90mm.
- Threaded Connectors: For connections to threaded fittings — available in 75mm, 90mm, and 110mm.
- Rigid Pipe Connectors: For solid pipe runs — available in 75mm, 90mm, and 110mm.
Not sure which to choose? Share your pipe diameter and layout with our team — we'll specify the exact connector kit you need.
