The As2 Long Range Battery is certified to two of the world's most respected lithium-ion battery safety standards, ensuring safe transport, storage, and operation across all jurisdictions:

• IS 16046 (Part 2) — Indian Standard for Secondary Cells and Batteries Containing Alkaline or Other Non-Acid Electrolytes. Part 2 covers lithium systems, specifying safety requirements for portable sealed secondary cells and batteries made from them.
• IEC 62133-2 — International Electrotechnical Commission standard for secondary cells and batteries containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolytes. Part 2 specifically addresses lithium systems, defining safety requirements for portable sealed secondary lithium cells and batteries for use in portable applications.

These certifications cover rigorous testing for external short circuit, free fall, thermal abuse, crush, over-charge, forced discharge, vibration, and mechanical shock — giving you confidence that the battery has been validated under extreme conditions.

Usage Guidelines & Best Practices

To maximize battery life, safety, and performance, follow these best practices:

• Use Only Official Unitree Chargers — Charge only with the Unitree Standard Charger (50.4 V, 4 A) or the Unitree Fast Charger (50.4 V, 7.4 A). Third-party chargers may damage the BMS or cells.
• Charge in Safe Conditions — Charge in a dry, well-ventilated area between 5°C and 40°C. Never charge in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in enclosed spaces.
• Cool Before Charging — Allow the battery to cool to near room temperature after heavy use before connecting the charger. Charging a hot battery reduces lifespan.
• Storage Charge Level — For long-term storage (more than 2 weeks), charge or discharge the battery to approximately 50% capacity. The BMS self-discharge protection will maintain this level.
• Storage Temperature — Store in a cool, dry place between −10°C and 30°C. Avoid extreme temperatures that can degrade cell chemistry.
• Regular Cycling — For optimal battery health, fully discharge and recharge the battery at least once every 3 months during storage periods.
• Inspect Before Use — Check the battery housing for cracks, swelling, or damage before each use. Do not use a damaged battery — contact Unitree support for replacement.
• Transport Safely — When shipping or transporting, ensure the battery terminals are protected from short circuits. Follow all applicable lithium-ion battery shipping regulations (IATA, ADR, etc.).

Compatibility

The As2 Standard Battery is designed exclusively for the Unitree As2 quadruped robot platform. It is not interchangeable with A2 or A2-W batteries, which use a different form factor and connector. Always verify you are purchasing the correct battery variant for your robot model. The battery slides into the dedicated battery bay on the As2 chassis and locks securely into place with the integrated retention mechanism.
