About
Unitree H2 EDU Smart L
Full-size 182 cm humanoid research platform with dual BrainCo Revo 3 U21VT visuo-tactile hands, 73 total DOF, 21 active DOF per hand, 0.01 N palm tactile resolution, 130 µm measurable deformation, wrist RGB cameras and expandable onboard compute.
The Pinnacle of Visuo-Tactile Dexterity in the H2 EDU Series
Unitree Robotics presents the H2 EDU Smart L — a full-size 182 cm humanoid research platform representing the highest level of dexterous manipulation and sensory capability in the H2 EDU Smart series. Designed for the most demanding work in embodied AI, advanced manipulation and human–robot interaction, this configuration combines highly articulated five-finger hands with precise visuo-tactile feedback and flexible onboard computing.
Built on the H2 EDU Standard platform, the Smart L integrates two BrainCo Revo 3 U21VT Dexterous Hands with visuo-tactile sensing. Each hand provides 21 active degrees of freedom, with 4 DOF in each of the four fingers and 5 DOF in the thumb, enabling intricate finger positioning, varied grasp postures and complex manipulation strategies.
What's in This Configuration
BrainCo Revo 3 U21VT — 21 Active DOF with Visuo-Tactile Feedback
Each BrainCo Revo 3 U21VT hand provides 21 active degrees of freedom, with 4 DOF in each of the index, middle, ring and little fingers and 5 DOF in the thumb. This architecture supports intricate finger articulation, varied grasp postures and detailed manipulation across advanced research tasks.
The hands deliver a 20 N fingertip pinch force for controlled interaction with smaller objects and a 70 N full palm grip force for secure whole-hand grasping. The visuo-tactile system adds detailed contact and deformation feedback for delicate object handling and fine manipulation.
Ultra-High Sensitivity for Micro-Manipulation Research
The full-palm tactile system provides a resolution of 0.01 N, allowing the hand to detect very small changes in contact force. A minimum measurable deformation of 130 µm adds another layer of sensitivity, supporting delicate object handling, texture recognition and micro-manipulation research.
Fast 3 Hz Motion with 500 Hz Control
The hands reach a maximum opening and closing speed of 3 Hz and operate at a control frequency of 500 Hz. This performance supports rapid finger motion, responsive grasp execution and precise control during dynamic manipulation.
A wide operating voltage range of 12–80 V provides flexibility for power integration within the H2 EDU Smart L platform.
Wrist-Mounted RGB Cameras for Close-Range Perception
Each BrainCo Revo 3 U21VT hand includes a wrist-mounted RGB camera with 1920 × 1080 resolution and a diagonal field of view of 130°. These cameras provide detailed visual feedback near the end effectors during fine manipulation and grasp verification.
73 Degrees of Freedom — Maximum Dexterity in the H2 EDU Series
The H2 EDU Smart L provides 73 total degrees of freedom: 6 per leg, 7 per arm, 3 at the waist, 2 at the head and 21 in each dexterous hand. This configuration delivers the highest level of articulation in the H2 EDU series, combining dynamic whole-body motion with exceptionally detailed hand control.
Dual Intel Compute with Expandable AI Performance
The standard computing architecture includes an Intel Core i5 processor for platform functionality and an Intel Core i7 processor for user development. This separation supports stable system operation while providing a dedicated environment for custom software, control and research workloads.
Empty PC3 and PC4 slots support optional high-performance computing modules selected at the time of purchase. Available configurations include an NVIDIA Jetson Thor module or an Intel Core i7 with NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX for demanding AI applications.
High-Torque Joints. Industrial-Grade Precision.
Low-inertia, high-speed inner-rotor permanent magnet synchronous motors provide up to 120 N·m of torque in the arm joints and up to 360 N·m in the leg joints. Industrial-grade cross-roller bearings support high precision and load capacity, while the arms provide an approximate rated payload of 7 kg and a peak payload of approximately 15 kg.
Aerospace-Grade Construction & Quick-Swap Power
The robot is constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum, titanium alloy and high-strength engineering plastics. It weighs approximately 70 kg with battery and uses an air-cooled thermal design. The 15 Ah, 0.972 kWh smart battery operates at up to 75.6 V and provides approximately 3 hours of runtime. Its quick-release design supports practical battery replacement during research and testing.
Binocular Vision & Natural Human–Robot Interaction
A bionic head and face are combined with wide-field-of-view humanoid binocular cameras. Array microphones and high-power speakers support voice interaction and natural human–robot communication, while Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 provide modern wireless connectivity for research environments.
Full Secondary Development
The H2 EDU Smart L supports full secondary development through open APIs, deep system access and SDK support for ROS2, Python and C++. Researchers can build custom control, visuo-tactile processing, perception, manipulation and embodied AI workflows directly on the platform.
Designed For
Included Equipment & Development Safety
The standard package includes one charger, one quick-release smart battery and one handheld remote controller. A protective bracket is included by default to provide additional safety during development and testing.
