Core Capabilities

Force Control, Tactile Sensing & Open Development

R1 EDU U4 combines advanced humanoid mobility with high-performance computing, stereo perception, dexterous manipulation, and tactile feedback.

01

40 Total Degrees of Freedom

The 26-DOF R1 EDU base is paired with two 7-DOF Dex3-1 hands, resulting in 40 total joint motors across the complete robot.

02

Dex3-1 Tactile Hands

Each Dex3-1 hand provides 7 degrees of freedom and combines force and position hybrid control. Unitree specifies 33 tactile sensors per hand for pressure-based perceptual feedback.

03

100 TOPS Computing

The U4 configuration uses a 100 TOPS computing docking station for AI workloads and secondary development, together with AI algorithm technical support.

04

Stereo + Wrist-Mounted Vision

Perception hardware includes a stereo camera and wrist-mounted camera, with the R1 LiDAR kit available as an optional upgrade.
